Analysis of physical properties and compressibility of avian eggshell nanopowders in solid state reaction

Eggshell is bioceramic material that produces by avian commonly contains of 94 % calcium carbonate, 1 magnesium phosphate, and 4 other organic element. This study proposed to investigate the synthesis characterization eggshell powders. The used in this involved chicken, duck, quail eggshells. nanopowder for reducing their grain size from micro nano ball milling process (solid state reaction) with variation times (3, 5, 7 hours) sintering temperature at 1000 oC 2 hours. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) test presented phase which ball-milled hours, obtained smallest crystallite 19.2 nm. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) morphological analysis showed changes shape each variety such as spherical, oval, wormlike, cubical, triangular, some irregular grains. Energy Dispersive (EDX) compound powders Ca O level were highest, while C was lowest level. Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) possibility functional group Ca-O, Ca=O groups, CaCO3, asymmetric C-O, -CO3, amide, C=O, -OH, alkyl CH, C-H.
